Feeling a bit Encouraged

This past week I had a chance to catch up with Professor Laura and also someone who I know in a fraternity who used to run track at Temple. While meeting with Professor Laura, I had a chance to really gather all of my thoughts and ease my mind. As said in last weeks blog post, I wasn’t sure if I was moving at the right pace or moving anywhere at all because of all of the behind the scenes work that was being done. Now, this week I have an idea on what I want my initial media to be, who I want to contact in regards of athletes, and my committee should be all squared away by the end of the week. Laura said she would introduce me to Matt Fine, who runs Owl Sports. I think meeting him and introducing him to my project would make him a good addition. Whether he is on my committee or not because of his connection to all of the athletes and his knowledge of production work, I can benefit from Matt in a multitude of ways. Also, when speaking to Laura, I asked her about putting up posters and how it could come off offensive to some. I got her input and she thought that if it was offensive to others then maybe they wouldn’t respond, which makes a lot of sense but I am still a little on the fence about it. I think I will just email coaches, so I can have a direct contact and also possibly access to practice and in-game footage.

As for the guy in a fraternity, I used my greek connections to help me find athletes who currently play sports at Temple. I have yet to hear back from him yet about any athletes who are willing to do it, but hopefully in the next week or so I will. Overall, I think after the meeting I definitely am feeling better in regards to the project as a whole. Last week I just didn’t know where to start or where I was going, if that makes sense. By the end of this week I am hoping to have locked in at least 1 athlete because I can start with them, and also just getting some b-roll shots.
