\"Cover<\/a>On Monday, October 15, Temple University Press author <\/span>Yasemin Besen-Cassino will be at Temple University\u2019s Paley Library to <\/span>discuss her book,<\/span><\/a> The Cost of Being a Girl: Working Teens and the Origins of the Gender Wage Gap<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to her research, the gender pay gap starts with part-time work in the teen years and persists into adulthood. <\/span><\/p>\n

Yasemin Besen-Cassino is a Professor of Sociology at Montclair State University. Her research focuses on work, gender, and youth and has appeared in many sociology journals such as <\/span>Contexts<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Journal of Contemporary Ethnography<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Theory & Society<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>NWSAJ<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Education & Society<\/span><\/i>. In addition, her work has been featured in many popular venues such as <\/span>the Washington Post<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>the Guardian<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Atlantic<\/span><\/i>, CNN, MTV, <\/span>Fortune<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Ms. Magazine<\/span><\/i>, and many others.<\/span><\/p>\n
