This year\u2019s theme is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilovelibraries.org\/librariestransform\/about\">Libraries Transform<\/a>, which asks us all to think about the evolving role of libraries, as well as our own unique experiences with our libraries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are some ways Temple University Libraries are celebrating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stop by our table near the leisure reading section in Paley Library for more information about library resources and services, as well as some fun stress-relief activities, giveaways, and candy. The table will be staffed on Tuesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 14 from 2:00 \u2013 4:00 PM.<\/li>\n<li>Check out our trivia questions about library facts and figures on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TempleLibraries?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\">Twitter<\/a> and give us your best guesses!<\/li>\n<li>Our Question of the Week board on the first floor of Paley Library asks how the Libraries have transformed YOU\u2014what will you say?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In honor of National Library Week, we also asked what books or library resources Temple University Libraries\u2019 staff members love. Here are some of their favorites\u2014Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cMy favorite library resource is our amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/library.temple.edu\/collections\/media\/\">Media Services<\/a> collection.\u201d \u2013Kathy Lehman, Supervisor, Access Services<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cPerhaps my favorite book is <a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b2676941~S30\">Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez\u2019s <em>One Hundred Years of Solitude<\/em><\/a>. I used to re-read it every year or so, just to re-enter the magical-realist world of the Buendia family and the town of Macondo.\u201d \u2013Gary Kramer, Publicity Manager, Temple University Press<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cOne from my childhood comes to mind, and has stayed there through many decades: <a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b4202916~S30\"><em>The Secret Garden<\/em> by Frances Hodgson Burnett<\/a>. This was the only book my mother saved from her childhood, and it still sits safely on my bookshelf behind glass doors and surrounded by as many versions as I have been able to buy!\u201d \u2013Sandi Thompson, Head, Ambler Campus Library<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/temple.naxosmusiclibrary.com\/recentadditions.asp\">Naxos Music Library<\/a> is a music streaming service, mostly classical music. I&#8217;ve used it since I was in undergrad, and there are recordings of lots of my favorite hard-to-find pieces in there. Another is <a href=\"http:\/\/comx.alexanderstreet.com\/\">Underground and Independent Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novels<\/a>. It has both primary-source content (digitized comic book issues), and scholarly articles and interviews about them. Plus, it lets you search by character and genre, which is pretty neat.\u201d \u2013Anastasia Chiu, Resident Librarian<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cI suggest two films by Bob Fosse\u2014<em><a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b5606687~S30\">Cabaret<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b5654509~S30\">All That Jazz<\/a><\/em>. Media Services holds these films in their collections, as they are absolute classics of both cinema and performance. \u201d \u2013Nicole Restaino, Manager for Library Communications and Public Programming<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;text-align: justify\">\u201cSome of my favorite books are <em><a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b5502010~S30\">The Bell Jar<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b4202916~S30\">The Secret Garden<\/a><\/em>, and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/diamond.temple.edu\/record=b1605825~S30\">The Lord of the Rings<\/a><\/em> trilogy.\u201d \u2013Fobazi Ettarh, Resident Librarian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today marks the beginning of National Library Week, a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
