Library Search<\/strong><\/a> now includes better access to Temple\u2019s archival collections! With these new features you will be able to find primary sources right alongside our books, articles, and media via our new, streamlined bento-style \u201cEverything\u201d results page! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might be wondering, \u201cWhat is a bento?\u201d<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When you use the search bar on the library\u2019s website, you land on search results for \u201cEverything\u201d. This page brings together results from our catalog, articles, databases, research guides, and more.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We call each of these boxes a \u201cbento\u201d. The bento-style layout groups your search results into clear sections by resource type. Each bento shows the 3 top results for that resource type.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you\u2019re working on a paper, project, or exploring a new idea, the new Archival Collections bento<\/strong> helps you find primary sources and other rare materials from Temple\u2019s unique collections. The results match what you\u2019d find in our Finding Aids Database.<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding aids describe archival collections in the Special Collections Research Center<\/a> <\/strong>and Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 think of them like inventories that list what\u2019s inside a collection, whether it\u2019s a box of photographs, letters, newspaper clippings, or even film reels.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screenshot above shows how results appear in the Archival Collections bento for the term \u201cCats\u201d. Clicking on a title, such as \u201cArt – Dogs and cats in paintings\u201d, takes you directly to that record in our Finding Aids Database, where you can learn more and request onsite access. <\/p>\n\n\n
