{"id":10735,"date":"2006-11-27T10:29:28","date_gmt":"2006-11-27T10:29:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/libtest\/2006\/11\/27\/new_history_dat_1\/"},"modified":"2014-01-24T21:16:28","modified_gmt":"2014-01-24T21:16:28","slug":"new_history_dat_1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/librarynews\/2006\/11\/27\/new_history_dat_1\/","title":{"rendered":"New History Database Trials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Libraries are currently running <a href=\"http:\/\/library.temple.edu\/articles\/trials.jsp\">trials<\/a> to four history-related databases: <a href=\"http:\/\/libproxy.temple.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/bp.chadwyck.com\/\">British Periodicals<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/libproxy.temple.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/c19index.chadwyck.com\/\">C19: The Nineteenth Century Index<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/libproxy.temple.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/parlipapers.chadwyck.com\/\">House of Commons Parliamentary Papers<\/a>; and <a href=\"http:\/\/libproxy.temple.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/pao.chadwyck.com\/\">Periodical Archives Online<\/a>. I have received lots of positive feedback from faculty on the latter two databases, both of which appear prominently on the history resources &#8220;wish list&#8221; for 2006-2007. Periodical Archives Online is the full-text, online version of the old Periodicals Contents Index.  It would be very helpful to receive feedback on C19: The Nineteenth Century. Can this database take the place of the currently-subscribed-to <a href=\"http:\/\/libproxy.temple.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/poolesplus.odyssi.com\/cgi-bin\/phtml?19centSearch.htm\">19th Century Masterfile<\/a>? For good or ill, The Masterfile has a relatively simple search interface.
