Postdoctoral Scientist<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maeva Perez <\/strong>is a remote post-doctoral researcher based at Hong-Kong Baptist University. She obtained her Ph.D. from Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al in September 2023. She grew up in France, Ivory Coast, and Canada, and has been living in Asia since 2020. She is interested in the ecology and evolution of deep-sea organisms. Maeva joined the group through the SMBE mentoring program in 2023 and is modeling the evolutionary dynamics of bacterial symbionts jointly supervised from Hong Kong (Jianwen Qiu<\/a>) and in the Liberles Group.<\/p>\n

Master’s Degree Students<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kate Antypova\u00a0<\/strong>is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Biology (with a focus on bioinformatics). She received her undergraduate degree from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She is originally from Kyiv, Ukraine and joined the group in April, 2026. She works on the effects of whole genome duplication on pathway divergence in the group.<\/p>\n

Srujana Ayyagari<\/strong> joined the group as a Temple +1 Master’s student. Her undergraduate degree and Master’s Degree are (will be) in Bioengineering. She is a member of the Honors College at Temple and is originally from Downingtown, PA. She joined the group in September, 2026 and her research is on mechanisms of duplicate gene retention.<\/p>\n

Angelina Dang\u00a0<\/strong>is a biology major at Temple University who is part of the Honors College. She joined the group in September, 2026. She is working on how gene duplication effects the structure of the metabolic pathway network.<\/p>\n

Anna Duffy<\/strong> is a biochemistry major at Temple originally from Warrington, PA. She joined the group in September, 2024. She is working on different models to understand the effects of dosage balance on gene duplication.<\/p>\n

Mia Elkind <\/strong>is a genomic medicine major at Temple from Yardley, PA. She joined the group in September, 2024. She is working on modeling the mechanisms of gene expression evolution.<\/p>\n

Ridhi Jain <\/strong>is a Bioengineering major at Temple University from Exton, PA, who is part of the Honors College. She joined the group in August, 2026. She is working on using phylogenetic comparative methods to evaluate mechanisms of duplicate gene retention in genomes.<\/p>\n

Jyoti Kadiyala <\/span><\/strong>is a Data Science major with a concentration in Genomics and Bioinformatics at Temple. She is from Yardley, PA, and joined the group in September, 2026. She is working on identifying mechanisms that lead to the evolutionarily stable maintenance of operons.<\/p>\n

Leah Kaplunovich<\/strong> is an Applied Mathematics major at Temple who joined the group in September, 2024. She is from Rockville, Maryland. She is working on several problems at the interface of mathematics and genomics.<\/p>\n

Penelope Rox <\/strong>is a biology major at Temple who joined the group in September, 2026. She is from Perkasie, PA and is a member of the Honors College.<\/p>\n

Vikhyata Sharma<\/strong> is a biology major at Temple who joined the group in September, 2026. She is a member of the Honors College who is originally from South Brunswick, NJ. Her research project focuses on pathway divergence after whole genome duplication.<\/p>\n
