How to spend 48 hours in Moscow?

Moscow is a huge city where everyone will find entertainment to their liking. But what to do if you only have two days to explore the capital? Of course, walking around the entire city is an impossible task, but it is quite possible to create an interesting program and walk through the most interesting places and feel the rhythm of the capital. In this article, I will tell you how to create a route to see the most important things.

Morning of the first day: a walk along Red Square

How to get there:

By metro: Okhotny Ryad station or Aleksandrovsky Sad

By bus: stop Red Square

Of course, first of all, it is worth devoting time to studying the historical sights of Moscow where you can to buy laughing gas in moscow in cylinders. So, I suggest you spend the first day walking around the historical center. I advise you to boldly go to the metro station “Aleksandrovsky Sad” and go on a walking tour of the city.

If you are visiting Moscow for the first time, I highly recommend that you go to Red Square. It sounds terribly trivial, but visiting the very heart of the capital is a must for every tourist.

Red Square

Here you can also have breakfast. A great option is Bosco Cafe, which is located in the famous GUM. For breakfast they serve porridge, yogurt, several types of omelets and fried eggs.

After walking around GUM, return to Red Square. It is not necessary to visit all the nearby museums. For some, a walk around the square may be enough – here you can look at the luxurious GUM, which is beautifully illuminated in the evenings, admire the colorful domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral and leisurely stroll around the rest of the open area.

Tsar Cannon

But if one walk around the square is not enough for you, I advise you to buy tickets to the Kremlin territory. With the tickets you will be able to climb the Kutafya Tower, walk along the bridge, see the Trinity Tower, the Ivan the Great Bell Tower and, of course, the famous Tsar Cannon.

Afternoon: Visit to the Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane

How to get there:

By metro: Tretyakovskaya station

By bus: stop Bolshaya Yakimanka

After a walk around Red Square, I advise you to go to the Tretyakov Gallery. I suggest you walk there and admire the ancient churches and other beautiful buildings along the way.

Not far from Tretyakov Gallery – on Malaya Yakimanka Street, 24 there is a cozy restaurant “Apartment 44”. Here you can have lunch and have a nice time. I recommend trying the signature cream soup in homemade bread and definitely try the delicious apple strudel.

Tretyakov Gallery

After a good lunch, you can safely go to the gallery. Here you will find a huge collection of works by artists and sculptors who worked from the beginning of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. It is in the Tretyakov Gallery that you will see the famous paintings of Aivazovsky, see with your own eyes the bears from Shishkin’s painting “Morning in a Pine Forest”, get acquainted with “Girl with Peaches” and learn a lot of new things on a tour.

By the way, in the gallery you can use not only the services of guides, but also take an audio guide – this way you will not have to move at someone else’s pace and you will be able to stop for a long time at any painting you like.

The Tretyakov Gallery on Lavrushinsky Lane will not leave anyone indifferent – it is full of paintings that are familiar to everyone from childhood, and therefore it is not at all necessary to be an art expert to enthusiastically walk through the halls.

End of the day: a walk in Zaryadye Park

How to get there:

By metro: Kitay-gorod station

By bus: Zaryadye stop

I recommend you end the day in one of the most popular parks in the city.

Not far from Red Square, or more precisely, next to St. Basil’s Cathedral, there is a popular modern park called Zaryadye. It was opened recently, in 2017. You can walk around the park absolutely free of charge.

Zaryadye Park

By the way, if you are looking for a place where you can have a hearty dinner, the park has a whole gastronomic center Zaryadye. It presents cuisines of various countries and a huge selection of dishes. You can have a snack both inside and outside.

But let’s get back to the park itself. Why is this place popular? Not long ago, there was nothing here at all. The park was built on the site of the Rossiya Hotel. It is divided into several climate zones and is an amazing island of greenery and forest in the middle of noisy Moscow. It is full of comfortable benches and paths, and I assure you that you can walk here endlessly.

I advise you to definitely go to the famous “Floating” bridge, which seems to “hang” in the air. Here you can take unforgettable photos as a keepsake.

After a walk in the park, you can safely go home. These impressions will be more than enough for the first day.

Morning of the second day at the ARTPLAY design center

How to get there:

By metro: Kurskaya station

By bus: 4th Syromyatnichesky lane

If on the first day you got to know Moscow of the past, then dedicate the second day to Moscow of the present.

Just yesterday you were getting to know neat tourist Moscow, and today you will see it from a completely different side. ARTPLAY is not only a design center, but also an interesting creative space, walking around which is pure pleasure.

It is located near the Kurskaya metro station, a rather noisy place near the railway station. But don’t be afraid, and boldly go to ARTPLAY. Along the way, you will be greeted by painted walls, and you will be met by a tunnel, which is usually used by trams and which you will have to go through. Go forward, turn and here you are. As they say: “Make yourself at home.”

There are many different shops, cozy cafes and bars on the territory of the design center. For example, if you collect glossy magazines and books about art, then visit the local bookstore. If you are lucky, here you will find not only books, but also many old magazine issues that are sold for pennies.

Rumor has it that the most delicious falafel in Moscow is made here. See the painted van with the sign “Cafe”? That’s where you need to go. Cozy concerts are often held on its roof, and inside the FRUITS+VEGES van itself there is a staircase that leads to a vegetarian cafe. I recommend getting freshly squeezed orange juice or aromatic coffee, falafel for breakfast and heading to the veranda.

I also recommend taking a walk along the streets of this space – here you want to take pictures literally next to every brick wall, graffiti and poster. If you are looking for a creative atmosphere, then you definitely need to visit ARTPLAY.

Continuation of the day at the Winzavod

How to get there:

By metro: Kurskaya station

By bus: stop 4th Syromyatnichesky lane

And if you are always happy to visit an exhibition of contemporary art, then after ARTPLAY go to “Vinzavod”. The center of contemporary art is located on the territory of the former winery. Various exhibitions, festivals and fairs are often held here.

There is also an annually updated free exhibition with works by artists and graffiti artists.

I advise you to walk to Vinzavod from ARTPLAY – it’s only 15 minutes. So, don’t waste time.

Lunch at the Bread Factory

How to get there:

By metro: Dmitrovskaya station

Another interesting space that appeared on the territory of the former bread factory quite recently. You can safely come here in search of original gifts, for festivals or fashionable parties.

The new park space is just a step away from the Dmitrovskoye metro station. It houses a huge number of showrooms from local designers, cafes, bars and restaurants, lectures, master classes and a wide variety of events.

This is where you can have lunch after a long walk. If you like seafood, I recommend visiting the restaurant “Prichal Moryaka”, which is located on the territory of “Khlebozavod”. Not far from this restaurant is the Chinese cuisine cafe “Tam Em”, many tourists say that they serve the most delicious wings here and delight guests with huge portions.

After lunch, I advise you to explore the territory of the space further. Not long ago, Khlebozavod merged with the design plant Flacon and expanded its area to 50 thousand meters. Come here to buy a T-shirt from the new collection of Volchok or MECH, have a good rest at one of the parties in Boiler Room or sunbathe on the roof in the summer with a glass of cold coffee.

The final evening in Gorky Park

How to get there:

By metro: Oktyabrskaya station

By bus: Gorky Park stop

Another favorite place of Muscovites and guests of the capital is Gorky Park. Many city residents happily note that it has really become much more interesting to spend time here than just a few years ago.

In addition to the fairly large park space, there are plenty of entertainment options for every taste. For example, art lovers can visit an exhibition at the GARAGE museum, film lovers can enjoy an open-air movie screening, and if you are seeking knowledge, you can safely attend free lectures.

Gorky Park

You can have a wonderful dinner in Gorky Park. For example, there is a restaurant called “Zharovnya” with a view of the Pionersky Pond. But if high prices do not scare you and you want not only to have a snack, but also to get unforgettable impressions, then go to the restaurant-boat “Flotilla Radisson” – on it you can not only have dinner, but also walk along the Moscow River and end the day perfectly.

In general, Gorky Park is fun not only in the warm season. In winter, the park turns into a set for an ideal Christmas movie. Here you can go ice skating, drink hot cocoa and admire the luxurious illumination.

As I already wrote: to see all of Moscow in 2 days is an impossible task, so I have put together a route for you that will help you not only to complete the standard tourist program, but also to fall in love with this city and feel its special atmosphere.
