

{"id":19,"date":"2011-11-22T20:44:26","date_gmt":"2011-11-22T20:44:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/leannerickson\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2025-11-30T18:15:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T18:15:38","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/leannerickson\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LEANN ERICKSON is a Professor of film and video production at Temple University in the Department of Film and Media Arts and has been an independent video\/filmmaker for over 35 years.\u00a0 Her work has screened on public and cable television, on streaming services including Netflix and Kanopy, in media and art galleries, and has received international recognition in film and media festivals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her documentary film titles include: <em>Top Secret Rosies: The Female Computers of WWII,<\/em> c. 2010; <em>Folk Songs<\/em>, c.2007; <em>Everybody Promenade<\/em>, c. 2007; <em>Neighbor Ladies<\/em>, c. 2005 and <em>From One Place to Another: Emma Goldman Clinic Stories<\/em>, 1996.<\/p>\n<p>Her experimental videos include: <em>Grapefruit Parts<\/em>, c. 2025, <em>Oracle<\/em>, c. 2022, <em>Apollo<\/em>, c. 2021; <em>interference<\/em>, c. 2005; <em>hours, minutes, seconds, frame<\/em>, c. 1999 and <em>Essential Things<\/em>, c. 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Animation titles include: <em>I (heart) Jack LaLanne: A Cartoon Memoir<\/em>, c. 2022; <em>Fun Days with Jake<\/em>, c. 2002 and <em>bees, a documentary<\/em>, c. 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Festival screenings include: Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival (Toronto CN), Oberhausen International Short Film Festival (Germany), Feminale International Women\u2019s Film Festival (Dortmund\/Cologne, Germany), Women in the Director\u2019s Chair (Chicago) and L\u2019immagine Leggera: International Competition of Videoart and Experimental Film (Palermo, Italy).<\/p>\n<p>Erickson is a recipient of regional and national production grants for her work from such funding sources as NEA, AAUW, the Jerome Foundation and The Leeway Foundation. In 2003 and 2006 she was awarded the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowship for media arts.
