I am currently interested in the rise of ‘political’ law firms. I am examining the Federal Election Commission’s tendency to attract talent from political law firms and then have former staff members and Commissioners use the expertise they gained at the FEC to then practice law in front of the agency that once employed them. This is another iteration of the “revolving door” phenomena. I presented a paper at the 2023 APSA Annual Meeting titled “The FEC’s Revolving Door and the Rise of Political Law” which I am currently revising to submit for publication. PS: I’m having a blast.
