Philadelphia History Reflects African American History

Posted on February 21, 2020 by Cheyenne Dantzler

Philadelphia takes pride in playing a significant role in not only American history, but also Black History.

Looking at Philadelphia’s history, you reflect on not only the struggles of Black Americans, but also their success.  From slavery to freedom, Philadelphia showcases the history of African Americans in our country.

Every year, there are a variety of ways to celebrate Black History Month in Philadelphia.  This year marks the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment so there’s an even larger amount of organizations hosting talks, screenings, concerts and more.

We’re midway through February but there’s still plenty of time and events for you to celebrate the contributions of Black Americans.

To experience Black History Month in Philadelphia, go to Visit Philly website for a curated list of events.
