Citizens from all walks of life marched down MLK, Jr. Blvd in Atlantic City on Monday, singing old gospel hymns and wishing happy birthday to the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

At a bell-ringing ceremony at the march’s end, Mayor Marty Small said he believes the dream has yet to be fulfilled. He challenged his city to move closer to MLK’s dream through kindness and service each day, not just on the holiday.

“Get involved,” Small said. “There’s a lot of community organizations and everyone has events each and every day. Just give a little bit of your time to the community because it’s very important, especially for the young people that’s watching this. We have to leave a legacy for them.”
