Hotpot #10: First Hotpot in Japan!!

This year, Chinese New Year fell on Tuesday, February 17th. Traditionally, during this time, my family like other families that celebrate CNY gather together and share a traditional meal that includes steamed fish, hearty soups, whole chickens, etc. However, this year is my first year not celebrating CNY with my family since I’m in Japan. Fortunately though, thanks to Elsa and Nono, I was able to enjoy CNY by eating authentic hotpot with my 朋友’s 🙂

Why you should eat hotpot…

  • Suitable for all taste palates
  • Food is better when you’re eating with family and friends
  • Will increase your vegetable and protein intake
  • Will put a smile on your face because it’s so good

Unlike Japanese hotpots like Nabe and Sukiyaki, Chinese hot pots’ taste is sharper, spicier, and more fragrant. It’s completely customizable to your tastes. Even if you don’t like spicy food, you can take the mild white soup. It makes vegetables 100x tastier to eat; therefore, it is technically a healthy food.
