These began with scrap wood and other stray materials, such as tiny hinges, string lights, and a large chain with a clasp. I assembled these like building blocks, with no specific vision, other than detailed yet sturdy miniature homes. The structures’ warm lighting and navigable spaces, with functional doors and tiny stairs, make them feel cozy and inviting. Splinters, nails, and metal mesh make them feel dangerous.
