Students in Managing History have a semester-long group project. Each student is assigned one of five research topics/themes and will research, design, revise, and then reflect upon a self-guided tour for the Powel House. They work with PhilaLandmarks staff, our project liaison, Lyell Funk, and their peers who have been assigned the same research topic theme. Because these assignments will generate content for a real public history project, to some extent their particulars will be announced as details are worked out with our project partner. To learn more about it visit Powel House 250.
For now, we focused on five themes:
- Elizabeth Willing Powel
- Samuel Powel – Loyalist or Patriot Mayor
- Preservation History at the Powel House
- The Jewish Quarter and the Powel House
- Society Hill and Powel House as part of thr Workshop of the World
