My name is Holly Genovese and I am a Ph.D Student at Temple University. My work focuses on the War on Drugs and family in the Urban South. I received my M.A. in history at the University of South Carolina in 2015. My thesis was entitled “They Held Their Fists Up: The Myth of the Violent Black Panther and the Making of the Angola 3.” My first article, “Not a Myth: Quakers and Racial Justice” was published in the March 2015 issue of Quaker Studies.
