On Friday, April 21, 2023, the Graduate English Association will host its 2023 Research Symposium: Un\/Silenced Voices. The symposium will feature four panels of graduate student researchers whose work seeks to elevate voices that have historically been silenced in literature and scholarly communities. Some of the topics our panelists explore include the study of Black women writers, excavation of indigenous stories from spaces of colonial oppression, and censorship in libraries and archives.<\/span><\/span><\/div>
\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>
Along with four student panels, the symposium will feature an afternoon keynote from the English department’s own Dr. Natalie L\u00e9ger entitled “Haiti and the Masculinist Tradition of Writing Caribbean Liberation.” Throughout the day, a light breakfast, lunch, and reception with drinks and hors d’oeuvres will also be provided.<\/span><\/div>

The symposium is open to all in the Temple community, and participants can attend part or all of the day’s events.
