STRESSED? FIVE WAYS TEA CAN REDUCE ANXIETY

Many people turn to tea for comfort and health, as its properties of boosting the immune system, battling disease, and even helping weight loss are well-recognized. Tea is a fundamental part of traditional Chinese medicine and can also benefit mental health. Join the Confucius Institute at Temple University for a talk with our local tea master, John Smagula, about Chinese tea culture and how tea can help you de-stress and reduce anxiety.
About the speaker
John Smagula is the Assistant Dean for Graduate & International Programs of the Temple University Beasley School of Law. Prior to becoming assistant dean, he was the director of the law school’s China Rule-of-Law Program, which includes Temple’s Beijing Master of Laws (LL.M.) program with Tsinghua University. John has long studied Chinese language and culture, having traveled to each province in China. He maintains a bilingual Chinese-English blog (WeChat ID: laosangshuo) with regular content that helps students to study foreign languages, achieve goals, and live positively. He is also a Certified Tea Specialist both in China and the U.S.

We wish we could join you again in Philadelphia this year, but we’re making the most of virtual technology to bring you back to Rome! On Saturday, October 17 at 11:30 AM EST, Temple Rome will go LIVE FROM ITALY! Tune in to get a tour of TUR’s newly renovated facilities; visit a popular neighborhood spot; hear from your favorite professors; learn about opportunities to come back to Rome; and more!
The reunion will take place virtually via Zoom. The chat will be open for any questions, or just to say “ciao!”

During Homecoming Week, Temple alumni and students from across the nation and globe can participate in a run/walk. Use an app to run or walk a recommended virtual path on Temple Main Campus, the Temple University, Japan Campus, in Tokyo or the Temple University Rome campus. To accommodate all fitness levels and abilities, participants take the routes at their own pace. Feeling extra fit? Use one or more of the maps as many times as you’d like throughout the week.
Join us in exploring, connecting and getting active. All Temple and Philadelphia social distancing guidelines will be followed. The event will run the entire week of Homecoming.
