Congratulations to Grad Student Top Paper Award Recipient Emmanuel Maduneme

The Global Fusion 2022 Organizing Committee would like to congratulate University of Oregon PhD student Emmanuel Maduneme, who received this year’s graduate student top paper award for his submission titled “From Tones, Sources to Solutions: Content Analysis of Coronavirus Vaccine Broadcast Media Coverage in Nigeria.”

Emmanuel C. Maduneme is a doctoral student at the School of Journalism and Communication University of Oregon. His research is at the intersection of media psychology, solutions journalism, and African media. Specifically, he is interested in how media content can be harnessed and designed to improve social cohesion and political participation across different cultural orientations. He completed his Master’s in Strategic Communications Management at the University of South Florida and his bachelor’s at Madonna University Nigeria. Emmanuel is also a former broadcast journalist with half a decade of experience in news production on television, radio, and podcast platforms.  Some of his most recent works evaluated the perceptions of journalists’ role and performance in African countries, as well as the impacts of solutions framed news on people’s collective efficacy and behavioral outcomes.

The committee extends their congratulations to Emmanuel, and wishes to thank all those of who submitted their work.

Many thanks to the volunteers, reviewers, collaborators, and attendees who came together this weekend for a successful conference. We hope to see you all next year!
