{"id":656,"date":"2017-10-29T20:06:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T00:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/?p=656"},"modified":"2017-10-29T20:11:35","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T00:11:35","slug":"geopath-field-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/2017\/10\/29\/geopath-field-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Geopath Field Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/publications\/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf16584\">NSF GeoPATH<\/a> grant, Temple and Rutgers Universities are teaming to create a field experience for freshmen and sophomore college students interested in a geophysical field experience <strong>May 19th to June 3rd, 2018<\/strong>. Students will spend two weeks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/criticalzone.org\/shale-hills\/\">Shale Hills Critical Zone Observatory<\/a> near Penn State learning basic field methods and a variety of geophysical techniques such as ground penetrating radar, seismics, and electrical resistivity (photo) applied to critical zone research questions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/files\/2012\/07\/DeployCable2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-353\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/files\/2012\/07\/DeployCable2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/files\/2012\/07\/DeployCable2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/geophysics\/files\/2012\/07\/DeployCable2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>No previous geology or geophysical experience is necessary. Successful applicants will receive room and board, staying at nearby cabins, and receive a $1,000 stipend.
