Amirah Malcolm<\/strong>
Undergraduate Research Assistant<\/strong>

Amirah Malcolm<\/strong> is majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Healthcare Management, along with certificates in American Sign Language (ASL) and Linguistics. She was interested in joining the FLFL program because of its important work. Language deprivation is a big issue in the Deaf community, and she\u2019s passionate about helping to close that gap.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Princesa Martinez
Undergraduate Research Assistant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Princesa Martinez<\/strong> is majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Public Relations, along with a certificate in American Sign Language (ASL). She was interested in joining the FLFL program because of its mission to help deaf children gain exposure to ASL. Princesa is passionate about this cause and also appreciates the opportunity to see people signing outside of her classes, which provides her with valuable real-world exposure to ASL.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bella John<\/strong>
Undergraduate Research Assistant<\/strong>

Bella John<\/strong> is majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and is working towards an ASL certificate. She joined the FLFL program because her ASL classes sparked her curiosity in deaf education among children, and she wanted to help address the challenges faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing students, including language deprivation. Bella was also interested in gaining more ASL experience outside of the classroom.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Brenna Veitz<\/strong>
Undergraduate Research Assistant<\/strong>

Brenna Veitz<\/strong> is majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, along with a certificate in American Sign Language (ASL). Her interest in the FLFL program grew from her goal of becoming a versatile speech-language pathologist (SLP) capable of effectively communicating with and supporting deaf patients. She values the opportunity to engage with ASL in real-world settings beyond her academic coursework.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Shruthi is majoring in Neuroscience: Cellular and Molecular. She found out about the FLFL program through her ASL class and became interested in exploring sign language research, which led her to reach out.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
