She was interested in joining the FLFL program because of its important work. She was interested in joining the FLFL program because of its mission to help deaf children gain exposure to ASL. She joined the FLFL program because her ASL classes sparked her curiosity in deaf education among children, and she wanted to help address the challenges faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing students, including language deprivation. Her interest in the FLFL program grew from her goal of becoming a versatile speech-language pathologist (SLP) capable of effectively communicating with and supporting deaf patients.
