As a first-generation, low-income (FGLI) student, navigating the financial hurdles of college can feel like an uphill battle. While scholarships are a valuable tool in easing this burden, the challenges of staying in school extend beyond just finances. That is why I am encouraging students to apply to the HERB it Forward Scholarship funded by the HERB Foundation.
This incredible organization not only provides financial support through the Herb It Forward Scholarship, which awards between $5,000 and $10,000 annually to 30 students, but it also fosters a nurturing community. The Foundation goes above and beyond by connecting recipients with fellow first-gen students who truly understand the unique challenges we face. It’s this combination of financial aid and personal support that makes the HERB Foundation stand out as a beacon of hope and assistance for students like us.
As one of the 2021 recipients, I am still astonished at how many connections and friends I made through this organization, and I would love to see others at Temple take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any questions about the application or interview process, feel free to contact me (ji.pan@temple.edu) or drop a comment!
The scholarship usually opens on November 1st and concludes in Febuary, so don’t forget to save this post for reference later!
