New Content
JSTOR has just announced the release of the first journal to the new platform. The full details for the journal are:
The Wilson Bulletin (Biological Sciences Collection, Life Sciences Collection)
Release Content: Vols. 1-116, 1889-2004
Moving Wall: 3 years
Publisher: Wilson Ornithological Society
ISSN: 0043-5643
The Wilson Bulletin is the previous title to The Wilson Journal of Ornithology. The Wilson Journal of Ornithology will be released into the JSTOR archive in 2010.
JSTOR plans to release new content into the archives approximately every two weeks from June through August. While this initial release includes a single journal, subsequent releases will include multiple titles across disciplines and collections.
Platform Updates
Maintenance Update Scheduled for week of June 9 will include the following fixes:
* The “Page of First Match” feature will be restored. With this fix, selecting the “Page of First Match” link will once again take users to the first page upon which a search term appears, rather than the first page of the article.
* The ability to jump to search term locations by page will be restored. Users will see the “Your search term occurs on…” indicator at the top of each article page.
* Thumbnail images on the “Images in JSTOR” tab will be restored
* An error that caused difficulties with the Adobe Reader Find and Search functionality in downloaded PDFs will be corrected. This problem is currently prominent in some versions of Adobe Reader 7 and 8.
* Several bugs with searching author names, phrase searching, wildcard searching, and fuzzy searching will be corrected.
JSTOR encourages you to continue to sending your feedback and reports of any problems to JSTOR User Support at support@jstor.org. Over the coming months, JSTOR will be performing regular system updates along with development of new features and your feedback helps prioritize the work.
Future Updates
PDFs with OCR errors: Approximately 5-10% of PDF versions of articles in the JSTOR archives are currently missing supporting OCR coordinates and await reprocessing on the new platform. In the interim, users may encounter articles that do not contain search term highlighting, and the ability to copy and paste text from these articles is not functional. Please note that this issue affects *only* the downloaded PDF versions of these articles; the articles are still fully searchable via the JSTOR search forms and will appear in lists of search results.
Terms & Conditions pop-up boxes: JSTOR recognizes the frustration users are experiencing due to the frequency with which the pop-up appears, and they are looking at alternate options.
