Shelby received her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Temple University in May of 2023. While at Temple University, Shelby worked under Dr. Lauren Ellman where she completed a project about the relationship between substance use and the negative symptoms of psychosis in individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis. Prior to that, Shelby volunteered as a research assistant under Dr. Thomas Olino at the Child and Adolescent Development of Emotion, Personality and Psychopathology Lab at Temple University. She additionally volunteered under Dr. Anne Brodsky at the Making Words Count Lab at University of Maryland Baltimore County. Shelby is interested in the neuroscience of negative symptoms of psychosis and substance use as well as the relationship between trauma, substance use, and psychosis.
