Ellen Whitton

Ellen received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science, with a minor in Law and Society, from the University of Vermont (UVM) in May of 2024. During her four years at UVM, Ellen was involved in multiple research projects as a lead research assistant, including the analysis of racial socialization messages in White parents’ discussions of race as a predictor of White children’s pro-white biases and the effects of TikTok use on mental health. Ellen completed an internship at Vermont Forensic Assessment, using archival data for the site to evaluate the relationship between personality characteristics and sex offender recidivism. Additionally, she worked as an Acute Residential Counselor at an independent living facility for adult residents in need of support for mental health, crises, and/or substance use disorders. Her primary research interests include the development of psychopathology and its effects on criminal behavior in adulthood.
