Marco Simons has spent his career holding corporations accountable for their environmental and human right abuses. On October 26th, he is coming to Temple Law to talk about his current case Suncor v Boulder.

Boulder, CO, who Simons is representing, sued a collection of fossil fuel companies, making multiple tort claims premised on the theory that the companies were knowingly selling dangerous products in Colorado. Faced with the case, the companies have extensively litigated to avoid a trial on the merits. The companies tried to remove the case from state court and claim preemption of state common law by the Clean Air Act. So far, Boulder’s legal team has won at the 10th Circuit and the Colorado Supreme Court. On October 6th, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the case.

Join us in K1E on October 26th at 12pm to learn more about the novel climate tort theories of the case, the civil procedure rollercoaster, and the case’s impact on the climate movement.
