Mandy Joye, University of Georgia
Mandy Joye’s research involves elucidating the ways through which microbial processes influence elemental cycling in the environment. She is an expert in microbial geochemistry and has studied hydrocarbon dynamics at the seafloor and in the water column for over 20 years. Her research is highly interdisciplinary, bridging the fields of analytical chemistry, microbiology, and geology. For the Deep Search project, Joye’s group is examining methane sources and sinks in the sediments and water column and documenting microbial community composition and activity at the study sites.
