Gerard Duineveld, Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research
Dr Gerard Duineveld is a senior researcher in the Department of Ocean Systems at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Sea Research (NIOZ). His main interests are benthic ecology, benthic-pelagic coupling, macrobenthos biology and development of oceanographic instrumentation. Duineveld has internationally acknowledged experience in the development and application of autonomous bottom landers for deep-sea studies especially for doing in situ experiments, observations, and measurement of benthic community respiration. Within the project Duineveld will be involved with benthic lander deployments. The data retrieved from the landers will be analyzed to elucidate physical processes that occur throughout canyons and near cold-water coral reefs, which steer transport of (organic) matter.
