Aboard the NOAA Ship Pisces

On this first cruise of the DEEP Sea Exploration to Advance Research on Coral/Canyon/Cold seep Habitats (DEEP SEARCH) program, which took place from September 11th- 28th, 2017 aboard the NOAA Ship Pisces with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution-operated AUV Sentry, scientists used a combination of mapping with water column profiling and sampling to improve knowledge of the geology along the U.S. continental margin, the types of communities found on the seafloor, and the mid-water communities that interact with those seafloor communities. Full details from this mission can be found on the NOAA Office of Exploration and Research website where you can find Mission Logs, Media Resources, Background Information, and more.
