About Van Bich Tran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Van Bich Tran joins Temple University in 2022 from the Harvard Kennedy School<\/a>, Harvard University, where she was the Senior Research and Data Librarian. Prior to that, she was the Open Educational Resources and Open Access Adjunct Librarian at LaGuardia Community College<\/a>, City University of New York. Before becoming a librarian, Van was at the Social Science Research Council<\/a>, where she developed and managed interdisciplinary social science research and training programs. One of her main programs included an evaluation of The Atlantic Philanthropies Population Health Programme in Vietnam<\/a>, which included a longitudinal population health study in Vietnam. Another major program was the evaluation of the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity in Southeast Asia<\/a> leadership training program. Van has also worked as a staff attorney for the Legal Services of Corporation of Iowa (now Legal Aid) and provided free legal advice and represented clients on civil matters in state and federal courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Van Tran is co-author of Helmet Day! Lessons Learned on Vietnam\u2019s Road to Healthy Behavior<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n This report covers the history and lessons from an eight-year effort that resulted in a national law mandating helmet use by motorcycle riders. Results showed decreases in serious head injuries and road traffic deaths.
