ABOUT OCCUPATIONAL COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT (OCA)

Due to the unprecedented pandemic and the effects that it has had on our ability to schedule OCA Performance Assessments, we will be increasing our efforts to ensure that all teachers who are waiting to be tested will be scheduled. We are working diligently to ensure that all teachers who need exams scheduled will have them completed by the end of the school year. We appreciate your patience as we address the challenges that the pandemic has created with our testing process.

When to apply?

The OCA is made up of a written review and a performance review which are completed as needed during specific times of the year.

Written exams are given 3 times per year:

• February
• April
• October

Performance exams are scheduled individually in 3 cycles per year:

• February to March
• April to June
• October to December

How do I apply?

Before you begin your application, you must download and complete the following forms as required.

What do I need to apply?

What is the deadline?

Is there a time limit to complete the OCA?

It is expected that you complete the OCA during the period of time you are teaching under your emergency certification.

When do I apply for my CTE Intern Certification?

Once you have successfully completed the Occupational Competency Assessment, participated in the New Teacher Orientation program, and completed the required Induction Program at your school, you are eligible to apply for your Intern Certificate using the TIMS system.

What is my next step after the OCA?

When you complete the OCA application you will then be ready for either the credential review (for those with a relevant license) or the written exam and the performance exam.
