Create the Canvas Course Shell for your class(es) by the date given before the start of the semester or session.
Preparation and course design should be completed ahead of the beginning of the semester. The course shell should have been created and populated with a syllabus, materials, a clearly planned out semester, and all video/instructional content for at least the first three weeks of the semester.
The same CLA guidelines for online courses apply to summer sessions as they do for full semester courses.
If you are teaching a General Education course you should use the General Education template.
Whether you are using a template or not, your course should have:
- A “landing” page (home page) for your students including basic information about the course and how you can be contacted;
- A welcome video that briefly introduces you and the course;
- A syllabus that meets the TU requirements;
- Details of any required materials;
- Information about assessment methods and grading;
- Instruction prepared for at least three weeks ahead (in case anything comes up that delays you).
All courses should be published and available to students by 8:00 AM on the first day of classes.
