The Department of Geography, Environment and Urban Studies<\/a> is thrilled to offer a community engagement opportunity for Temple students!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Climate Justice Field School (CJFS) is a community service and experiential learning program for motivated students at Temple University to promote climate justice in the Philadelphia area. Socially and economically marginalized communities across the city disproportionately experience adverse health impacts due to urban heat islands, flooding, and the toxic legacy effects of a recently dismantled oil refinery.<\/p>\n

To address these inequities, we partner with local government agencies and non-profit organizations who work closely with impacted groups and who serve as hosts for Temple interns. Since 2024, CJFS has placed undergraduates in summer internship positions with these institutions to contribute to diverse initiatives, ranging from zero fare public transit campaigns and residential flood resilience training to preparing Philly\u2019s green energy workforce and mapping hazards related to the city\u2019s combined sewer overflows.
