Purpose
To show students the various unit cells.
Materials
- New models in a box (located between the desk and wall).
- Optical transform kit in the file drawer, including slides for use with red and green lasers.
Procedure
- Hand out the Styrofoam models for students to manipulate.
- Instruct students to pay attention to the close packing systems, noting that the models are in separate pieces.
