Thesis Research
My thesis research will be analyzing data from proton-proton collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, USA. There is the Solenoidal Track at RHIC (STAR) Detector that analyzes the events coming from the collision vertex.
The proton as it is known now is not a fundamental particle but contains quarks and gluons and have 3 quarks in the valence region (up, up, down). There is also a sea of quark-antiquark pairs that are produced from gluons. The interactions between quarks can produce weakly interacting vector bosons such as W+, W–, Z and bosons. Link to paper on the discovery of W and Z bosons.
