Doctoral students in the Policy & Organizational Studies (POLS) program are interested in issues of equity and racial justice in the various domains of our research. There are three concentrations in our program: adult and organizational development, higher education, and urban education. Students take courses with those in related Ed.D. and Master’s programs, so class discussions include diverse perspectives from a range of practitioners and scholars.
POLS doctoral students are dedicated to community-engaged scholarship. Their current research projects at the College students have been involved with include studies of HBCU alumni and the Temple Education Scholars dual enrollment program. Graduate students have also conducted equity audits of several district wide academic and behavioral intervention systems. We have recently presented our work in a variety of academic venues from flagship conferences, like American Educational Research Association and the Association for the Study of Higher Education, to more specialized scholarly communities including the Critical Race Studies in Education Association and the Ethnography in Education Research Forum.
