Director’s Statement
‘Pack Your Things’ is, more than anything else, a perspective on ourselves. Every living person lesson on grief. The story deals with the ways that death changes us, and more specifically our experience loss at multiple points in their live. That experience can leave us depressed, lost, or in some cases relieved or happy. But there is one thing consistent regardless of the emotion – change. Loss always involves a great change, which is exactly what occurs in this story. We experience the changes that loss and death had on a young adult. We watch him grow, desperately trying to adapt to the changes in his life. We see the characteristics he latches onto, the decisions that he makes, and how he treats himself and others. It’s an inherently simple but relatable story, one that is both contemporary and timeless.
