May Graduation Dates and Schedule

Thursday, May 10, 2018, 9:30 AM – Temple University’s 131st Commencement Exercises at The Liacouras Center:

This ceremony includes graduates from the entire University. The University Commencement lasts approximately 90 minutes.

The Liacouras Center will open at 8:00 a.m. on the morning of Commencement. Graduates must report to the loading dock entrance (on Broad Street near Cecil B. Moore Avenue) no later than 8:15 AM in academic regalia and maintain single file lines behind their college banners.

Thursday, May 10, 2018, 5:00 PM – The College of Education Graduation Ceremony at McGonigle Hall

This ceremony only includes undergraduates and master’s, and doctoral students from the College of Education. The ceremony lasts approximately 1-1/2 hours, depending on the number of graduates in attendance.

Participating students should report to McGonigle Hall no later than 3:45 PM on Thursday, May 10th, to sign in and line up.

Where Do I RSVP For The Ceremonies And Reception?

All graduates MUST RSVP for the graduation ceremonies on the TICKET REQUEST site no later than March 22, 2018.

Extra Tickets: Graduates will receive an email with more information and link for extra ticket request. Please expect email March 23-28.

How Do I Order My Cap And Gown?

Graduates are required to wear academic regalia (cap, gown, and hood) to participate in the College of Education Graduation Ceremony. Visit the bookstore’s website to order.

Please be sure to purchase the appropriate regalia. The regalia are specific to the degree the student is receiving, not to the school or college he or she has attended.

Will I Receive A Yearbook?

All undergraduate students who are graduating are entitled to receive a yearbook. Yearbooks are published once a year in May. You will receive a FREE copy of the year book during ticket pickup in April.

When Will I Receive My Diploma?

Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application within 6 to 8 weeks of graduation to all academically cleared students. Diplomas will not be released to students who owe the University money or library books, to those who have not completed exit paperwork if required, or to those who have “financial holds.” Students should resolve such matters prior to graduation and contact the School in order to receive their diplomas on time. Address information should be updated with the School and in Banner if graduates expect a change before graduation.

Diploma frames can be ordered through the University Bookstore.

Ceremony Photos

At the ceremony, each graduate is recognized individually by the Dean as he or she is called on stage. A professional photographer from Legacy Photographics ( will be present to record this important moment in the graduate’s life.

The photographer will mail a complimentary proof directly to the address provided on the graduation application with information about purchasing additional prints.

Where Do We Park?

The College of Education’s designated area for parking is specified on your parking pass. Each graduate will be provided one parking pass for one vehicle with no re-entry.  If you’re attending either the University Commencement at 10:00 am or the College of Education’s ceremony at 5:00pm, please note that the Broad Street entrance of the Liacouras Center and McGonigle Hall are NOT a drop off or pick up location. Police will not permit vehicles to stop on Broad Street.  Please utilize the Parking Shuttle service (map included).

Tickets, parking pass and yearbooks will be available in April 2017 for pickup at the College of Education.
