In honor of Black History Month, the CARE Lab<\/a>, Black Girls Hack<\/a>, and the Women in Cybersecurity (Temple Chapter)<\/a> are co-hosting “A Chat with Black Professionals in Tech & Cybersecurity” on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, from 6pm to 7.30pm ET<\/strong>. They will converse about their jobs, roles and responsibilities, the challenges they have faced in general, and more specifically as Black men, how they manage these challenges, and what needs to be done to support and encourage them in the field. Ian is also the co-founder and executive director of Black Tech Philly, an educational Non-Profit Organization focused on providing tools and resources to Black and Brown communities across Philadelphia centered on preparing all ages for careers in technology.<\/p>\n

Hakeem Thomas is a U.S. military veteran, where he specialized in signal communications (e.g., radio communication, satellites, and computer networks). He has nearly 20 years of information technology experience and holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a B.S. in Digital Forensics; he is currently pursuing his M.S. in Cybersecurity Management. Hakeem is currently a Project Manager consultant for Randstad Digital, overseeing multiple Zero Trust initiatives. His technical background includes vulnerability assessment, DFIR, penetration testing, social engineering (SE), OSINT, and policy writing, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Tennisha Martin is the founder and Executive Director of BlackGirlsHack (BGH Foundation), a national cybersecurity nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education and resources to underserved communities and increasing the diversity in cyber. BlackGirlsHack provides black women and girls with resources, mentorship, direction, and training required to enter and excel in the Cybersecurity field. Tennisha has a bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science in Information Technology, Health Care Policy and Management, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics and Cyber Investigation, and Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland. She has worked in a government consulting capacity for over 15 years in Project Management, Risk Management, Audit, Information Assurance, Quality Assurance, Software Development, and Testing roles. In her spare time, Tennisha is a Cyber Instructor, mentor, and red-team learning ethical hacking advocate for diversity in Cyber and the executive suites.<\/p>\n
