Horizontal composition with copy space.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Application-Related Questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Am I eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The BRIDGE Summer Scholars Program is open to Temple University students entering their final year of undergraduate study; we can consider a rising junior on a case by case basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>We prioritize supporting students from populations underrepresented in psychological and neuroscience research. This includes (but is not limited to) students who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>identify with racial or ethnic minority groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>are first-generation college students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have a disability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have experienced homelessness or foster care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>qualified for federal free\/reduced lunch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>come from rural communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you bring a perspective or lived experience that you believe is underrepresented in academia, we encourage you to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Does eligibility include students graduating in the fall?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes. As long as you will remain a Temple student through Fall 2026, you are eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the application process?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, you will upload:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your unofficial Temple transcript (available via TUportal)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your resmue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Completed Application <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your essay responses: (1) Are there areas of research that you are drawn to? If yes, please share some research fields or topics that excite you. If no, that&#8217;s ok!&nbsp; Share something with us not currently reflected in your application. (300-500 words) and (2) Why are you interested in research in general, and in neuroscience, specifically?&nbsp; (250-500 words)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the name of a faculty member who can provide a reference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there a minimum GPA requirement?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No. We do <strong>not<\/strong> use a minimum GPA cutoff. BRIDGE uses a holistic review process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When is the application due?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications open as of January 1 and close mid-March; decisions are rendered before April 1. Early submission is recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What labs can I apply to? Will I choose my lab?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll receive a list of participating labs with brief descriptions of their research areas. You&#8217;ll also meet with BRIDGE faculty to discuss. We use both the conversation and the list to create a matching system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>If you feel overwhelmed choosing, don\u2019t worry\u2014schedule a meeting with the Program Coordinator and we will support you in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there an interview?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes. Interviews help us get to know you beyond the written application and allow us to assess which labs and near-peer mentors may best support your goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Program-Related Questions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will be expected of me during the program?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>BRIDGE Scholars work full-time for <strong>12 weeks<\/strong> over the summer (approximately <strong>40 hours\/week<\/strong>), with one week of vacation. 2026 Program dates are May 26th (day after Memorial Day for Orientation) and run to August 12th.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expectations include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>conducting hands-on research in your assigned lab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>attending weekly meetings with your near-peer mentor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participating in professional development sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>engaging fully in the cohort community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What will I gain from this program?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>BRIDGE is designed to immerse you in psychological and neuroscience research through direct, mentored experience. You will gain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>hands-on research skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>close mentorship from faculty and near-peer mentors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a strong academic network, supported by your BRIDGE cohort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>experience with data analysis, scientific communication, and coding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>preparation for graduate school, medical school, or research careers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a foundation of transferable skills useful across many fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can I have another job during the program?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Because BRIDGE is a full-time commitment (generally 9am\u20135pm, Monday\u2013Friday), any additional work must be arranged outside these hours.<br>Please note: this is an in-person program. You must be able to travel to Temple\u2019s campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the program dates?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 26th (day after Memorial Day for Orientation) and run to August 12th<\/strong><br>Scholars may take one week (5 days) of vacation during this period in coordination with their PI and the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Post-Program Questions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can I continue in the lab after the summer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes.
