Dr. Sewall presented a plenary talk at the National White-Nose Syndrome Symposium on June 5, 2012.\u00a0 The symposium\u00a0brought together leading researchers, land managers, and government officials studying white-nose syndrome, a fungal pathogen that is leading to rapid and catastrophic declines in bat populations of several species in North America.\u00a0 The symposium was\u00a0organized by a suite of several governmental agencies and non-governmental agencies led by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Bat Conservation International with the goal of advancing research and management of white-nose syndrome.\u00a0 Dr. Sewall presented a large-scale statisical analysis of declines in bat species across the northeastern United States, and factors associated with these declines.\u00a0 His co-author on this research presentation was Greg Turner of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
