On October 13th, 2011, Kim Reuter presented a poster on “Methods for Dugong Conservation in Developing Countries” at the Student Conference on Conservation Science in New York City.\u00a0 In the research, which she completed with collaborators in the international non-governmental organization Community Centered Conservation (C3) and the Comorian national environmental research agency INRAPE, Kim presented novel, low-cost methods – employing social surveys, habitat mapping, and historical records – to rapidly assess the status and distribution of dugongs, a large marine mammal, in northern Madagascar and in the Comoros Islands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
