The Advisory Committee for the Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Certificate in Sustainability, of which Dr. Sewall was part, has completed a proposal to establish a new certificate program in sustainability.\u00a0 The program would be less intensive than a minor, but would encourage and recognize undergraduate training in sustainability issues.\u00a0 It would enable students to pursue an interdisciplinary course of study that integrates diverse perspectives from local to global scales on maintaining into the future both human well-being and the environment, in the face of ongoing anthropogenic threats.\u00a0 The proposal now goes to the university for approval.\u00a0 Dr. Sewall earlier served on the the Academic Initiatives Committee on Sustainability which developed an educational plan and proposed a suite of initiatives to more tightly integrate sustainability into the undergraduate and graduate curricula at Temple University, and which recommended the establishment of the Undergraduate Certificate in Sustainability.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
