Temple University\u2019s Center for American Language and Culture<\/a> (TCALC) is thrilled to be the host for the Jordan Pre-College Opportunity Program! TCALC has been attracting students from all over the world to the historic city of Philadelphia since 1974. International students enjoy the excellent educational resources available on Temple’s campus and many cultural experiences in downtown Philadelphia. Small class sizes and caring, experienced teachers help students at all proficiency levels reach their goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with over 250 student clubs and organizations<\/a>, Temple University is also home to the Muslim Students Association, a student-run organization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BETT participants will benefit from the university\u2019s placement in Philadelphia.  Our main campus is only a short subway ride away from the historic center of Philadelphia, the second-largest city on the East Coast of the United States, and the birthplace of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HEALTH SERVICES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Temple has primary care physicians and mental health counselors available to students on campus. These offices provide walk-in medical services as well as scheduled appointments. Temple University Hospital is less than 2 miles from campus for emergency health services and emergency dental care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FACILITIES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tech Center:<\/strong> The TECH Center houses over 700 computers and provides advanced technology spaces for students to complete projects. This building is home to our Help Desk that can help students almost 24 hours a day with computer problems. In addition, there are multiple computer labs and study spaces on campus where students can complete homework assignments as individuals or in study groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campus Recreation: <\/strong>If you have signed up for campus recreation, you will have access to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independence Blue Cross Recreation Center<\/strong>, <\/strong>1701 N. 15th Street:<\/strong><\/em>
The primary area for general fitness activities and programs. Located at the corner of 15th Street and Cecil B Moore Avenue, the entrance to the center is off of 15th Street across from the parking garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new campus recreation fitness facility with over 16,000 square feet of space<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A newly constructed 30,500-square foot space provides opportunities for activities such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, as well as an indoor golf driving range. Recreational swimming is available in Pearson McGonigle Halls, Pool 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitness Mezzanine<\/em>:<\/strong>
A new informal recreation area located on the second floor of Pearson Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arts:<\/strong>\u00a0Temple also has a thriving art scene right on campus, with music, dance, art exhibits and theater offerings offered frequently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
