Each month the Barnes Club will invite a recent Temple history alumnus for a discussion over Zoom about their current projects and their professional experiences after leaving Temple. Rather than a lecture or workshop, these will be informal events where current graduate students can talk with alumni about researching, turning dissertations into books, navigating the job market, and more.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our first Alumni Happy Hour will be\u00a0<b>Wednesday, October 21\u00a0@ 6:00-7:30 PM<\/b>\u00a0with\u00a0<b>Dr. John Worsencroft<\/b>. A historian of the military, gender, war, policy, and society, Dr. Worsencroft graduated from Temple where he defended his dissertation titled &#8220;A Family Affair: Military Service in the Postwar Era&#8221; in 2017. He is now an Assistant Professor of History at Louisiana Tech University and a research fellow with the Waggonner Center for Civic Engagement and Public Policy and the Louisiana Tech Research Institute. He is also a trained public historian. He served as the assistant director at the American West Center, and he also worked at the Philadelphia History Museum as a Temple Allan F.
