DESCRIPTION:The James A. Barnes Club\, Temple University’s graduate student history organization\, is pleased to announce the 26th Annual Barnes Club Graduate Student History Conference. The event will feature a keynote address from the University of North Carolina professor of history\, Dr. Wayne Lee\, author of Waging War: Conflict\, Culture and Innovation in World History (Twitter: @MilHist_Lee).   \nThe Barnes Club Conference will be held via ZOOM on Friday evening April 9 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM and Saturday\, April 10\, 2021\, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Barnes Club Conference is one of the largest and most prestigious graduate student conferences in the region\, drawing participants from across the nation and around the world. \nTo participate in a panel\, check out our Call for Papers! \nA full schedule of events will be circulated the first week of April. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Barnes Club will be hosting a Course Building and Teaching Workshop with Dr. Monica Ricketts\, Dr. Bryant Simon\, and Dr. Ralph Young on Wednesday\, April 21 @ 5:00-6:30 over Zoom. The workshop will provide ideas on effective teaching strategies for history classes\, how to organize a syllabus\, how to strike the right balance between readings and assignments\, and more. The workshop hopes to help all graduate students further develop their teaching skills\, whether you have taught multiple classes already or will teach your first course this upcoming Fall.
