For this project, I experimented “doing more with less”, or using as few frames as possible to tell a story.

In this case, the story is an introduction to a short film, where the protagonist struggles to finish their essay. I got serious about fine art in middle school, and when my friends recommended me animated TV shows to watch, I jumped on the opportunity.

Many of the shows I watched were dramatic. They focussed on devastating wars, love, and acceptance, which deeply resonated with me. Learning to lead with love amidst internal and external conflicts was a lesson that defined my adolescence. I’m still working on it, every day.

I also admired how animators were able to simplify their figures, and still make them so vibrant and expressive. They were able to do more with less, and I wanted to master that. I also found smear frames absolutely hilarious.

I hope someday, my stories will resonate with people in a similar way. For now, I hope you enjoyed my recent pieces. They’re only the beginning of (what could be) a lifelong journey!

This is an assignment I completed for my Digital Animation Compositing and Modeling course.
