He has published more than 450 journal and conference papers, 20 book chapters, and 2 edited books. His work has received about 20,000 citations according to Google Scholar, reflecting its broad influence and enduring significance. His research has helped shape modern array signal processing and has enabled numerous innovative technologies.

Dr. Zhang has been actively involved in EURASIP activities. He has served as an Editor for Signal Processing since 2008 and is an elected member of EURASIP Signal Processing for Multisensor Systems (SPMuS) Technical Area Committee. He received the EURASIP Best Paper Award for Signal Processing for his paper “DOA estimation exploiting a uniform linear array with multiple co-prime frequencies,” published in Signal Processing in 2017. In 2025, he delivered a tutorial titled “Sparse Arrays and Sparse Waveforms: Design, Processing, and Applications” at the European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), and presented a keynote talk, “Harnessing Frequency Diversity for Enhanced Direction-of-Arrival Estimation,” at the EUSIPCO Workshop on Signal Processing for Autonomous Systems. He currently serves as an Academy Mentor for the EURASIP Academy.

Prior to this honor, Dr. Zhang was elevated to Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of SPIE, underscoring his international reputation and sustained excellence in the field of array signal processing.

Dr. Yimin D.
