Dr. Yimin D. Zhang has been elected as a member of the Sensor Array and Multichannel (SAM) Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the Signal Processing for Multisensor Systems (SPMuS) Technical Area Committee of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP). He will serve on both committees for a three-year term starting in January 2025.

Both committees are dedicated to advancing signal processing for multi-sensor arrays. Their activities include organizing conferences, promoting educational initiatives, nominating candidates for awards, and offering technical guidance.

Array signal processing, which leverages multiple sensors, plays a pivotal role in fields such as wireless communications, radar, sonar, medical imaging, and radio astronomy. Applications include adaptive beamforming, interference suppression, multiuser access, direction-of-arrival estimation, source localization, and image formation.

Dr. Zhang previously served two terms on the IEEE SAM Technical Committee from 2015 to 2020. He organized the 2018 IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop, one of the two main workshops of the IEEE SAM Technical Committee, as a Technical Co-Chair.
