The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) recently awarded a multi-year contract to Dr. Yimin Daniel Zhang, Director of the Advanced Signal Processing lab at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Temple University. This contract enables Dr. Zhang’s efforts to develop novel signal processing methods for over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) target localization and tracking.
Skywave OTHR systems exploit the reflection and refraction of radar signals from the ionosphere and thus provide wide-area surveillance capabilities to detect and track targets beyond the line-of-sight limitation.
Dr. Zhang is a highly recognized radar expert and has developed a number of novel techniques to support the mission of the U.S. Air Force.
