{"id":224,"date":"2008-11-11T11:36:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-11T16:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/academicassembly\/?p=224"},"modified":"2016-07-19T11:36:21","modified_gmt":"2016-07-19T15:36:21","slug":"november-11-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.temple.edu\/academicassembly\/2008\/11\/11\/november-11-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"November 11, 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Academic Assembly of Librarians<br \/>\nGeneral Assembly Meeting<br \/>\nTuesday, November 11, 2008, 2:00 p.m.<br \/>\nPaley Library Lecture Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>MINUTES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendance<\/strong>: Alford, Badman, Bell, Bongiovanni, Brigham, Darby, Derry, Goldstein (chair), Lang, Larkin, McKinney, Murray, Myers, Schoolar, Szigeti (recorder), Thompson, Vara<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Approval of Minutes.<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 80px\">\n<li>Minutes of the General Assembly meeting of September 9, 2008 were approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Introduction of New Librarian<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 80px\">\n<li>Gretchen Sneff introduced Thomas Heverin, the new science librarian.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remarks from the Dean of University Libraries<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 80px\">\n<li>Larry Alford announced the reduction in the budget and how it will affect the Libraries. There is a travel and hiring freeze, with some limited exceptions. Less facility and project work will get done. Our collection budget will not be affected this year because salary lapse monies will be used. The Dean announced the upcoming three millionth volume celebration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Old Business<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 80px\">\n<li>Emeritus status for librarians.
